Wombat Education presented an  important one-day Professional Development conference for teachers in major cities in May 2017.  The topic was TEACHING ABOUT ISLAM TODAY.  It was particularly well attended.

As always it was simply delightful. I honestly have never been to PD so useful as Peter’s. In every case – and I’ve been to plenty. Usually there are dud sessions in most PD”S – never in a Vardy event.” I Carmichael, Marist Regional College, Hobart 2015

First of all I’d like to thank Peter for a such a wonderfully interesting, informative and challenging PD last week. My colleague had never heard of Peter before and was really unsure of what the day would hold. From Peter’s very first words he was totally hooked and engrossed – so a huge thanks”

Dr Peter Vardy  focuses on extending and deepening teacher subject-knowledge, identified as the single factor with the most impact on student understanding and achievement by the Sutton Trust in its survey report of 200 leading pieces of educational research “What makes great teaching?” (October 2014).  When teachers have a confident grasp of the philosophical, ethical and religious issues underpinning the big questions young people ask about matters of life and death they are better equipped to steer discussions towards being meaningful and personally helpful as well.

Extensive resources were provided, along with refreshments, to all teachers who attend the conference.

Places in 2018 cost $190 each, with a small discount available for block-bookings of 3 or more teachers when they are paid for promptly and together.

Wombat Education can sometimes organize Bespoke Professional Development events for schools or groups of schools who wish to improve teacher-subject knowledge or build teacher-awareness of issues to do with ethos.
